The Paralympian gold medallist, 29, is facing more than 15 years in prison for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day morning in 2013.
His initial charge of culpable homicide, for which he was convicted of, has been converted to a charge of murder in the first degree.
His family have now been threatened with extortion over the double amputee’s impending sentence.
It is reported that the demands were sent to Pistorius’ cousin Arnoldus the day after the athlete’s pre-sentencing hearing ended on the 15th of June.
The anonymous person requested money n exchange for evidence that the prosecutor had paid a key witness who had testified against the disgraced athlete.
When Pistorius’s cousin didn’t respond, the person began making threats directed towards how Pistorius would be treated by other inmates if he were to be sent to prison.
Police are currently investigating the threats and have not made any arrests as of yet.
