An English woman plunged over 18 meters after falling off a shopping centre’s balcony in Cheadle, Greater Manchester, England.
The woman narrowly escaped serious injury after landing on a display bed outside a John Lewis furniture store at around 4pm on Monday 8th February .A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Police said they responded to calls stating that a 60-year-old woman had sustained injuries after falling from the upper floor of the shopping centre.
“Her injuries are not thought to be serious and it appears that she fell on to a bed.” He added.
A John Lewis spokesman confirmed there was a “serious incident” at the shop on Monday afternoon.
“We closed the shop immediately and are offering partners who witnessed the incident our full support”, he added.
“We are continuing to work closely with the emergency services and have passed on CCTV footage to the police.
“We are glad that the customer’s injuries are not thought to be serious, and our thoughts are with the customer and her family.”
The head office then released an official statement saying: “Our customers’ safety is of the utmost importance to us and all of our shops conform to the highest safety standards. We are helping the police with their investigations, and continue to offer support to our Partners who witnessed the distressing incident.”

The woman received no life changing injuries, but suffered hip and spine trauma after the fall. She was airlifted to hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
