107-Year-Old Man Credits Longevity To Drinking Four Bottles Of Wine A Day

5 February 2016

A recently deceased 107-year-old Spanish war veteran said the secret to his long life was down to his habit of drinking four bottles of wine every day.

Mr Antonio Docampo Garcia, from Ribadavia in northern Spain, said he would drink a couple of bottles of rouge at lunch and then drink a further two more bottles at night when eating dinner.

After fighting in the Spanish Civil War, Mr Docampo started his own vineyard in
Ribadavia, later starting the wine company Bodegas Docampo.

His nephew, Jeronimo Docampo, who now runs the vineyard, told Spanish newspaper La
Voz de Galicia, that his uncle only drank the organic and chemical-free wine he produces himself.

Mr. Docampo started his own vineyard and only drinks the wine from he produces.

“He sold the majority of the wine he produced, but still kept a decent amount back for himself,” his nephew said.

“If he produced 60,000 litres a year he would keep 3,000 litres for himself. He always said that was his secret to living so long.”

‘When we were both at home we could get through 200 litres of wine a month,’ he said.

While red wine does have its health benefits, such as cutting the risk of men developing erectile dysfunction in men, health experts have warned to only drink it in moderation.
